If you would like to find out more about the best scooterists in the world, we have created this article for you, where you can find out everything about this subject. Who are the people who have made this sport popular and who are the ones that have established records that are highly unlikely anyone will break?
Dakota Schuetz
If there is someone who can take home the crown for the “Best Pro Scooter Rider Ever”, then that person is, without a shadow of a doubt, Dakota Schuetz. Born in March 1996, in California, Dakota was to be introduced to the world of scootering when he was just ten years old. His nickname is “Kota’, coming from his first name, “Dakota”.
He started to practice quite a lot, around five hours a day, just about every day, so, in five years, he became a household name in this domain, in the entire world, and would take home the first ISA World Championship title in 2012. He would go on and win the title again in the next two years.
With that, he became the only person to win the ISA title three times. On top of that, he also became the very first rider that managed to win all of the major international scootering competitions that were taking place at that time, so it is no wonder that he soon became known as “The Machine”.
Another feat, this time shared with Nathan Weston, is that they are the only two people that managed to complete all of the 40 tricks on the website Tricknology. With the exception of one, Dakota had managed to complete all of the necessary tricks in only one attempt, which is, again, quite a feat, something you don’t hear about often.
He established the “Kota Camps”, which represents an international program that wants to promote the sport as much as possible and teach young riders skills within that program. He also runs Kota Enterprises LLC and has created his very own brand of clothing, named Kota, which sells outfits, socks, hats, accessories, etc.
Jordan Clark
After Dakota ruled over the ISA for three years, the next champion had a rather unlikely origin, as he wasn’t from California, he wasn’t even American. Jordan Clark was born and raised in the United Kingdom. He was born in June of 1999 and would soon prove himself as one of the best scooterists in the world.
Jordan impressed everybody at the 2015 ISA championship, which took place in Barcelona, as he managed to complete a perfect final run that made him the new champion when he was just 16, taking the title away from Dakota. With that, Jordan established himself as the new kid to watch out for.
His parents are named Darren and Becky and introduced him to scooters. He began following this sport in 2011 and soon would go to win the Scootfest Cup, while also placing second during the UK Nationals. He also took home the European and FISE World Montpellier titles and placed second during the Nitro World Games.
In 2016, Jordan won the ISA World Title again. Jordan was actually introduced to gymnastics first, as a child, by his parents. He credits the fact that he has such a great ability and is much more gracious than other scooterists to his time in which he trained as a gymnast.
That also surely played a large role in making him the very first person that ever was able to complete the gravity-defying triple front flip while on a scooter, a feat that as beautiful as it is, can also be quite dangerous, so if you are planning a career as a scooterist, don’t hurry into trying that out.
As a result of winning these accolades, Jordan would also go to be featured on the very first episode of the “Game Changer” show that is being broadcast by Sky Sports and, knowing his past, and seeing his abilities on TV, he is surely one of the people who was the most worthy of that happening.
Ryan Williams
The National Rugby League of Australia is famous worldwide, so you might be surprised to learn that they are not the best-paid athletes in the country. Ryan Williams and his love for extreme sports have made him better paid than many of the National Rugby League stars, and he has only just begun.
The 24 years old was born in Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia, and has managed to perform tricks that nobody else was able to deliver before. He is nicknamed “R Willy” by his fellow mates. He signed a three-year contract worth of one million dollars with Nitro Circus so they can tour the world together.
This made Ryan, in 2016, when the contract was solved, the very first scooter athlete that had ever managed to sign a contract that is worth one million dollars. Seeing him in action is indeed a sight to remember as he is clearly a master at this game and all of that money is worth it and earned it with every trick that he does.
Ryan was born in July of 1994 and will go on to become a true leader and pioneer in the fields of freestyle and pro scootering. When he first rode a scooter, he was just 12 years old and started a collaboration with Nitro Circus all the way back in 2012 as a video of him went viral on the Internet.
As he was touring with the Nitro Circus in 2013 in Sankt Petersburg, Ryan established three firsts in the field of scootering: the ruler front flip, the cash roll tailwhip rewind, and the double frontflip tailwhip. Since then, he has gone to record over a dozen more new firsts for riding a scooter, which is really impressive!
On top of everything, Ryan also has a unique story, in that he also has managed to leave an impact on the BMX scene, one that, for years, has looked down on the world of scootering. Ryan took home first place during the BMX Best Tricks event that took place at the very first World Nitro Games during 2016.
As he seems to enjoy being the very first person to do something, then it should be of no surprise that he managed to do this even in the world of BMX. This happened the same year, and it was for becoming the first rider that was able to land a triple front flip while on a BMX. With such a drive, we hope only great things will await him.
Dylan Morrison
Dylan was born in June in 1998 in Cheltenham, England – does being born in summer increase your chances of wanting to become a scooterist? When he was 12, Dylan started to ride the scooter. He also made a name for himself thanks to the many tricks he is able to perform, as he has also proved many times during various competitions.
During the 2013 – 2015 period, Dylan took home the “Best Trick” award at the ISA World Championship, a feat that is yet to be matched by anybody else. For 2013 and 2014, he also placed second overall, after Dakota Schuetz, in the World Championships and placed fourth during the 2015 edition.
Dylan also managed to win the second place at the Australian Championships back in 2014 and even scored the top position at the 2014 Pro Series. He managed to win four state Australian Scooter Association titles, with two of them being consecutive. With such a career, no wonder he is so famous.
Yet, all of this wouldn’t have happened if ten years ago, his bike wouldn’t have broken down, which forced him to borrow a scooter from a friend so that he could get to school. It was almost love at first sight and was soon doing his thing at the skate park with full support from both of his parents, despite multiple injuries he has suffered from.
Among the wounds that he had to go through, we can mention breaking his hand, and his arm, plus a torn meniscus. Still, having unconditional support from your parents is truly great and makes everything much easier to endure – especially since he loves what he is doing. He is sponsored by Drop the Anchor Clothing and Elite Scooters.
So who is your favorite scooterist from the ones we’ve mentioned? Is there any important one that we’ve missed? Let us know!
